PARENT PROMISE & CODE OF CONDUCT

At wreSTL, we believe sport is at its best when it builds character. Our program is grounded in six core values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. These values guide how we coach, how we compete—and how we expect families and supporters to show up for our athletes.

Being part of wreSTL means embracing the role of a supportive adult—whether as a parent, guardian, grandparent, or volunteer. The role of the adult is not to be a coach, a referee, or a critic, but a steady and positive presence in a child’s experience of the sport.

At wreSTL, we expect all adults to model respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and other families—win or lose. We expect adults to support young athletes by staying positive, staying patient, and keeping the focus on effort, growth, and fun.

  • I will make every effort to get my child to practice and events on time, prepared, and ready to learn. Showing up late sends the message that coaches’ time, teammates’ effort, and the team's mission are not a priority—and that’s not the message I want to send.

  • I will let the coaches coach. During matches, I’ll limit my words to encouragement and avoid yelling instructions from the sidelines.

  • I will avoid criticizing coaches, officials, or other wrestlers in front of my child or others. I recognize that how I talk about people affects how my child feels and behaves.

  • I will keep things in perspective. Wrestling is tough, but it’s also supposed to be fun—and it’s just one part of my child’s life.

  • I will teach my child that success isn’t just about wins, but about effort, resilience, and doing the right thing—even when it’s hard.

  • If I have concerns, I will bring them directly to the appropriate staff, at the right time, and in a respectful way.

wreSTL is more than a club—it’s a community. When adults lead with character, kids thrive. That’s what we’re here for.
